Shakira Concert in Madrid 2026: how to get to Macondo Park, where to catch a taxi and how to get home without losing your mind

Shakira's Madrid concerts take place at Estadio Shakira, inside Macondo Park (the Iberdrola Music venue in Villaverde), with 12 dates between 18 September and 11 October 2026. The easiest way to get there is by Metro (L3 Villaverde Alto or L12 Los Espartales) or Cercanías (commuter rail). To get back, there is an official taxi rank on Calle San Eustaquio, a VTC pick-up point at Valle de Tobalina and San Ezequiel, and a free shuttle to Legazpi and Atocha.

If you have a ticket to see Shakira, there is one thing I recommend sorting out before you leave home: how you are going to get back.

Because getting to Villaverde can be fairly simple. Leaving when around 57,000 people want to do exactly the same thing at the same time… that's a whole different story.

Madrid City Council has set up a special operation with extra Metro services, free shuttles, road closures and dedicated areas for taxis, VTC and private cars. I'll tell you how to get there, where to get off, where to catch a taxi, what to do with your car and, above all, how to plan your journey home.

Because leaving a concert like this with a "we'll see"… my friend, in Madrid that's playing roulette.

When are Shakira's concerts in Madrid 2026?

There are 12 concerts spread over four weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The venue opens at 12:00, access to the floor and stands starts at 20:00 and the concert is scheduled from 21:00 to 23:00.

  • 1st weekend: 18, 19 and 20 September

  • 2nd weekend: 25, 26 and 27 September

  • 3rd weekend: 2, 3 and 4 October

  • 4th weekend: 9, 10 and 11 October

The fact that the venue opens at midday has one advantage: you don't all have to arrive at once. If you can, go early, enjoy Macondo Park and avoid the 19:00–20:00 rush.

Where is Macondo Park (Iberdrola Music)?

It is at the Iberdrola Music venue, south of the Villaverde Alto neighbourhood, next to the boundary with Getafe. It is the same site as the Mad Cool festival, bordered by Calle Laguna Dalga, Avenida Real de Pinto and the M-45.

For this residency, Estadio Shakira has been built: a temporary venue for around 55,000 people, surrounded by Macondo Park, an ephemeral "city" of around 220,000 m² with music, food, literature, fashion and Latin culture.

💡 Fun fact: why "Macondo"?

Macondo is the imaginary town in One Hundred Years of Solitude, the novel by Gabriel García Márquez. In the book, José Arcadio Buendía founds it in the middle of the jungle, looking for a place to start afresh. The nod is no coincidence: Gabo was born in Aracataca and Shakira in Barranquilla, both on Colombia's Caribbean coast. So, for one month, Villaverde has its own Macondo… with a Metro and a taxi rank, of course.

My first tip: don't just tell the driver "take me to Iberdrola Music". From 15:00 there are road closures around the venue. What matters is knowing at which authorised point you can be dropped off or picked up. Also check on your ticket which entrance is yours: with thousands of people around, going to the wrong gate can mean quite a walk.

How to get to the Shakira concert by Metro

Short answer: The nearest stations are Villaverde Alto (Line 3) and Los Espartales (Line 12, MetroSur). Metro will run extra services on both lines between 00:00 and 01:30 for the end of the concert.

  • 🟡 Line 3 – Villaverde Alto: the best option if you are coming from the city centre. It also connects with Cercanías lines C-4a, C-4b and C-5.

  • 🟢 Line 12 – Los Espartales: a handy alternative if you are coming from Getafe or other MetroSur towns.

From both stations there is a signposted walking route to the venue. My advice: follow the signs and the event staff, because routes may be adjusted each day.

Can you go by Cercanías?

Short answer: Yes. The useful stations are Villaverde Alto (C-4a, C-4b and C-5) and San Cristóbal Industrial (C-3).

If you are going home by Cercanías, check the time of the last train before you go into the concert. Don't count on "I'll check it on my phone later": when 57,000 people come out at once, the mobile network will be busier than a waiter in Plaza Mayor in August.

Prefer cycling? There are two BiciMAD (public bike) stations nearby: at Calle Domingo Párraga, 38, and on Calle Transversal Sexta, next to Villaverde Alto and San Cristóbal Industrial.

Where to catch a taxi after the Shakira concert?

The official taxi waiting area is on Calle San Eustaquio, between San Norberto and Resina. The head of the rank, where you get in, is next to Calle Resina. To walk there from the venue, take Calle San Erasmo, turn right and continue along Resina to the head of the rank.

Save this information, because it is probably the most important part of this whole guide:

🚕 SHAKIRA TAXI RANK

Calle San Eustaquio (head of the rank on Calle Resina)

Walking route: San Erasmo → right → Resina

Taxis cannot pick you up at the venue entrance. You have to walk to the designated area, so allow a few extra minutes.

Where is the VTC point?

Short answer: The VTC (ride-hailing) pick-up point is on Calle Valle de Tobalina, at the corner with San Ezequiel. It is only for getting in if you have already booked the ride: it is not a waiting area for cars.

In other words: don't go there hoping to find a free Uber, Cabify or Bolt. First 📱 book, then 🚶 walk to the point and finally 🚗 get in.

Kiss & Ride: is a relative or friend picking you up?

Short answer: There is a Kiss & Ride area on Calle La Acebeda for quickly dropping off or picking up concert-goers in private cars.

Ideal if your partner is driving you, a relative is picking you up or you are car-sharing. But don't try to drive up to the venue entrance: these areas exist precisely so that thousands of cars don't all end up at the same spot.

Is there parking at Iberdrola Music?

Short answer: For the general public, practically none. Inside the venue there are two areas with 648 spaces, but they are only for certain ticket types or accreditations. For people with reduced mobility there are 22 spaces inside and another 30 outside, on Calle San Erasmo.

In addition, from 15:00 parking is prohibited on streets such as Laguna Dalga, Laguna de Cameros, San Eustaquio, Laguna del Marquesado, Resina, Avenida Real de Pinto, Valle de Tobalina and La Acebeda.

Don't plan the day as "I'll drive and find a spot". You could end up driving round Villaverde listening to Hips Don't Lie from afar.

Free shuttle after the concert

Short answer: After the concert there is a free EMT electric bus shuttle from Avenida Gran Vía de Villaverde, next to Calle San Jenaro (stop 5964). It runs from 23:00 to 02:00, every 7.5–15 minutes, and the journey takes between 14 and 35 minutes.

It stops at Legazpi and Atocha, but at those two stops you can only get off, not on. It is a very good option if you are heading to the city centre or if you are taking another form of transport from Atocha.

How much does a taxi home from the Shakira concert cost?

Short answer: As all the concerts are on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and end around 23:00, Madrid taxi Tariff 2 always applies on the way back. The final price depends on the distance and, above all, on time spent in traffic jams.

Tariff 2 (2026): every day from 21:00 to 07:00, and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 07:00 to 21:00.

  • Flag fall (starting fare): €3.20

  • Per kilometre: €1.60

  • Per hour (in slow traffic): €29.00/h

When a concert ends, traffic is slow and the taxímetro (meter) also counts time, so the fare may be higher than just multiplying the kilometres. If there are 3 or 4 of you, sharing the taxi makes a big difference to the price per person.

You'll find all the prices in our guide to Madrid taxi fares 2026.

My strategy for a stress-free trip home

Short answer: Decide how you are getting home before the concert starts, not when the last song is playing. These are the options I would consider:

  • 🚕 Taxi: venue → San Erasmo → Resina → taxi → home. Ideal if there are several of you or you want door-to-door.

  • 🚗 VTC: venue → Valle de Tobalina / San Ezequiel. Only if you have already booked.

  • 🚌 Shuttle: Gran Vía de Villaverde → Legazpi / Atocha. If you are going to the centre and want to save money.

  • 🚌+🚕 Combined: free shuttle to Atocha and a taxi from Atocha. If you live far from the centre and want to avoid the Villaverde traffic jam.

  • 🚇 Metro: Villaverde Alto (L3) or Los Espartales (L12). If you have a Metro station near home.

  • 🚆 Cercanías: Villaverde Alto (C-4/C-5) or San Cristóbal Industrial (C-3). If you are going back to a town with a train station.

🎯 The trick to not getting lost among 57,000 people

Don't arrange to meet "at the gate". Choose a specific spot outside and tell everyone in your group before you go in: for example, the head of the taxi rank on Calle Resina or the shuttle stop at Gran Vía de Villaverde and San Jenaro.

Otherwise, it will go like this: "Where are you?" "At the gate." "Which gate?" "The gate!"… and there's your drama.

Book your taxi for the Shakira concert with TaxMad

After singing, dancing and shouting yourself hoarse to Waka Waka (we're not as young as we used to be), it's time to go home.

My advice is simple: don't improvise your way home. Before you set off for Villaverde, decide where you will meet your group, how you will get back and what your plan B is if something changes.

If you want to go home by taxi, message us in advance and we'll help you arrange the pick-up according to that day's traffic and transport plan. That way, when the concert ends, you won't have to wander around Villaverde asking "where are the taxis?". You'll already know.
